One of three sites for new affordable housing for the City of Aspen, Main Street is surrounded by multi-family residences in the West End. The corner lot development has 12 single-bedroom units and tenant parking. Much of Main Street has a Victorian character, but the immediate context around this site are modern in massing with flat roofs. Modernist architecture in Aspen became a physical manifestation of the Aspen Idea of mind|body|spirit. The mixed neighborhood contexts across the 3 affordable housing sites lends itself to the modular massing and flat roofs characteristic of Modernist design.
